Heat Wave

There are two temperatures in Buenos Aires: chilly and swealtering. This weekend was the first weekend in months of actual heat and everyone was out enjoying some time in the sun.
I went to Puerto Madero to have a drink and walk around. Along the way I came across this adorable little girl and her stylish mom. Clearly the little girl is not as enthusiastic about this picture as her mom is!

Lastly, here I am donning the whitest of white Albino skin tones. Just in case you were wondering that is a vest I'm wearing and not simply an exceptionally pale section of my torso.
I'm wearing an Erin Brynie skirt and top, a Vicki Ortero vest and Marc Jacobs WonderWoman cuff (thanks Heb!)

BAF Week - Maria Cher

Resident badass Maria Cher's eponymous line is always a favorite. Her clothes combine a bit of rock and roll with this bohemian element that makes them very wearable.

I wish I could have seen this show! Cora Groppo is one of my favorite Argentine designers. Her clothes are ethereal with striking silhouettes or textures but the colors she uses makes them edgy at the same time.

Marcelo Senra

As I waited in the ENDLESS line to get tickets on Friday for BAF week along with the entire citywide population of girls between 18-22 (I felt weirdly over the hill), one extremely kind guy came over and handed us a free ticket. Honestly, if it weren't for that inexplicable, random moment of good fortune, we would never have gotten within 2 miles of the show entrance. I also realized once we were actually inside that the only way to actually to see show was to shamelessly cut the line and run push run run!!! once the gates were open.

The pictures above are from the Marcelo Senra show which Im so happy I was able to see. Everything from the Brazilian music, the exaggerated eyelashes and the playful, bright prints made for a very fun atmosphere. I had never seen his clothes before and came away truly impressed. Below are the comparatively ghetto pictures from my own camera taken at the show:

BAF week

Photobucket

Photobucket

I went to BAF Week yesterday to see the summer collections of Vicki Otero and Tramando. On the way in I saw these two girls and I had to ask for a picture. I love the open toe boots and fringe bag. They are both so chic!

I really like this photo, the clothing looks really easy to carry. Beutifull model.

Cube with a View

These pictures of the Recoleta Cementary were taken from my office window. Though many Argentines find it morbid to visit a cemetery as a tourist excursion I have to say this one is visually stunning. Each tomb is like a tiny palace and when considered all together it's truly beautiful.

Channeling my inner Sartorialist

Palermo is like Disneyland for fashion lovers. Every time I find myself walking around this neighborhood I am constantly fighting the urge to stop every other person on the street for a photo...more on that later.
The last four pictures were taken within the Lucila Iotti store (located in Palermo). Lucila Iotti makes singularly daring, outrageous shoes that are nothing like anything I've seen before. The second picture from the top is Lucila herself wearing satin leopard print shoes with bright pink heels (yes please).

About stopping people on the street for a photo, I cannot overcome the unbearable awkwardness of approaching strangers so I can photograph their outfits. The situation itself is strange and add my own awkwardness on top of it and you end up with a conversation that goes like this: "Hola! Um Hi, yeah can I please take your picture? Um I have a blog? Is that ok? I really like your outfit oh! ok um great. Wait sorry can I take one more?.." At this point my friends are A) cringing in embarrassment on my behalf or B) slowly walking in a different direction.

I realize that this an inherently uncomfortable situation but I'm going to keep doing it anyway. Any suggestions for making it seem more natural?

Catalouge

Ahhh Catalouge...The name really says it all. Catalouge is a quarterly that indexes everything amazing that I want to own as soon as possible by category. Ok, maybe not everything but what I love most is that many of the labels are tiny, so small in fact that to find out about the product listed you'll find the designer's cell number in the back.
Please excuse my mess of collage at the bottom, apparently I haven't mastered the cropping tool in Power Point or the art of an interesting layout. Someday it will all come together, I promise.

Too bad the first picture doesn't do justice for that leather jacket. It's beautifully structured and if you could only see it in all of its asymmetrical glory you'd salivate. I mean, I did.

I ran into Carolina at a shop in Palermo Soho. I couldn't help take a picture of this nutty yet fantastic outfit. Bleach splattered jeans, over the knee boots and a bit of bright pink for good measure.
